Service Description

Two day hands-on seminar for actors and film-makers to learn screen direction, blocking and the choreography between the performance and the lens. This class is ideal for actors who want to strengthen their on-camera performance by creatively blocking their action, practicing the 180 degree rule of the eye-line, and hitting their marks - while remembering their lines! This class also offers directors & cinematographers the opportunity to practice visual story-telling and learn how to construct a story-arc and build tension with the lens. You will shot-list while utilizing the180 rule and use professional camera equipment to shoot a scene. The hope is to have an even split between the actors and filmmakers in this course. Please indicate your focus, when applying. The Teacher: Rebecca Arndt grew up on film and tv sets in the Boston area. She is a graduate of the film program at Hampshire College and has worked on feature films, television and documentary productions for over 20 years. She is a member of local 600 as a union camera operator and is also a member of the Society of Camera Operators. Both Workshops 6 Hours with a lunch break - Please bring your own lunch You have seen her work on hit shows like Orange is the New Black, Girls, Goosebumps and Poker Face. She has had the opportunity to work and learn from film-makers like Barry Levinson, James Mangold, Rian Johnson, Lena Dunham, Denzel Washington and many more.

Cancellation Policy

Workshop Booking, Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy By booking a workshop through Beacon Creative Industries (BCI), you agree to this policy and our Liability Policy. BCI provides the facility only; workshops are operated by independent Workshop Providers who set certain terms. 1. Booking Your seat is confirmed once payment is processed. All participants must follow BCI facility rules and Provider instructions. 2. Participant Cancellations 7+ Days Before Workshop: Eligible for a full refund minus processing fees. Within 7 Days: Refunds are not guaranteed and depend on the Workshop Provider’s policy. You may receive a partial refund or credit if approved. No-Shows: Non-refundable. 3. Rescheduling Requests must be made at least 72 hours before the workshop. Approval depends on availability and the Provider. If allowed, you may be moved to a future session or issued a credit valid for six months. Requests within 72 hours cannot usually be accommodated. 4. Provider Cancellations If the Workshop Provider cancels or changes the date, you may choose a full refund or transfer to the next available session. BCI is not responsible for travel, lodging, or outside expenses. 5. BCI Facility Closures If BCI must cancel due to safety, weather, or operational issues, all participants receive a refund or rescheduling option. 6. Ticket Transfers You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 24 hours before the workshop. The new participant must agree to all policies. 7. Refund Processing Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing may take 5–10 business days, depending on the payment provider. 8. Agreement By booking, you acknowledge that BCI hosts the workshop space but does not run or supervise the instruction, and you accept the cancellation and rescheduling terms outlined above.
