Service Description

The ARRI 416 PLUS is the most advanced 16mm film camera ever made, still in wide use in feature and television film production. Come learn this revolutionary camera system. In this two-day hands-on workshop, we will learn how to properly build the camera, load film magazines, and operate the camera. Day 1: Dedicated to learning the camera and technical approaches. Day 2: Two magazines will be loaded with different film stocks, and we will go over how to light for each stock. After the scene is lit, the class will take turns filming on each magazine. Additionally, the workshop will cover: Film stocks and film labs Best practices for exposure on film Lens options Off-speed filming We will shoot 800 feet of film over the course of the workshop, which will be developed and scanned — all students will receive a digital scan of the film. Film stock, development, and film scan are included with the workshop fee. Max enrollment: 10 students --- About the Teachers Steven Turco is a Hudson Valley-based cinematographer. After growing up in the Hudson Valley, he studied film in Chicago and spent the last several years working in Local 52 on many productions including Fallout, Happy Gilmore 2, and Severance. He shot the short Amerikkka, which had a short festival run, and the docushort Keep Right Except to Pass. Robert Featherstone is a cinematographer. He shoots commercial, narrative, and documentary. The documentary A Fine Line about female chefs won Best Cinematography at the Borderlands Film Festival. Love, Gilda was nominated for 2 Emmys and opened the Tribeca Film Festival. Requiem for the American Dream and Indian Point premiered at the Tribeca Film Festival. Farmer of the Year, a feature film starring Barry Corbin, won the audience choice award at the Minneapolis International Film Festival.

Cancellation Policy

Workshop Booking, Cancellation & Rescheduling Policy By booking a workshop through Beacon Creative Industries (BCI), you agree to this policy and our Liability Policy. BCI provides the facility only; workshops are operated by independent Workshop Providers who set certain terms. 1. Booking Your seat is confirmed once payment is processed. All participants must follow BCI facility rules and Provider instructions. 2. Participant Cancellations 7+ Days Before Workshop: Eligible for a full refund minus processing fees. Within 7 Days: Refunds are not guaranteed and depend on the Workshop Provider’s policy. You may receive a partial refund or credit if approved. No-Shows: Non-refundable. 3. Rescheduling Requests must be made at least 72 hours before the workshop. Approval depends on availability and the Provider. If allowed, you may be moved to a future session or issued a credit valid for six months. Requests within 72 hours cannot usually be accommodated. 4. Provider Cancellations If the Workshop Provider cancels or changes the date, you may choose a full refund or transfer to the next available session. BCI is not responsible for travel, lodging, or outside expenses. 5. BCI Facility Closures If BCI must cancel due to safety, weather, or operational issues, all participants receive a refund or rescheduling option. 6. Ticket Transfers You may transfer your ticket to another person up to 24 hours before the workshop. The new participant must agree to all policies. 7. Refund Processing Approved refunds are issued to the original payment method. Processing may take 5–10 business days, depending on the payment provider. 8. Agreement By booking, you acknowledge that BCI hosts the workshop space but does not run or supervise the instruction, and you accept the cancellation and rescheduling terms outlined above.
